You've downloaded it to the PC. Did you double click on the downloaded file to install it to the PC? If so, make sure you delete the vendor.xml file located in c:\program files\common files\research in motion\apploader.

Then try it again.

Downloading now, have deleted the vendor file and will let you know...

The vendor.xml file gets installed to the PC each time the OS package is installed to the PC. You'll have to delete it again if you install the OS file again.

When I tried to open the file, yesterday, it wouldn't execute, is that because I forgot to delete the vendor file?

If you can't open the downloaded OS file then that is some kind of Windows problem. Make sure you have administrator priviliges on the computer you're using. You can't delete the vendor.xml until it's been installed--its included with the OS package.

I am having trouble with T-zones?

Anyone having this issue??

I tried deleting it from the Service books, restarting, then resending service books, but no go.

delete "vendor.xml" located in c:\program files\common files\research in motion\apploader

Then plug in BB, run Desktop Manager. It should prompt you to upgrade.

After having the TIM OS for about a week now (and loving it), I've discovered another issue and am wondering if anyone else has seen anything like it (or the same issue exactly).

I have a GPS puck and use the Telenav software (though, the same issue was happening with BBMaps). My BB would lose it's bluetooth connection with the puck and I would have to turn off bluetooth and then turn it back on for it to reconnect. To be clearer: my Pearl would connect to the puck and I was able to use Telenav successfully. When I reached my destination, I turned off the puck and quit Telenav. Then later, when I got back in the car, I would turn the puck back on and start Telenav. It would get to the point where it was getting the route, but then stop and say it lost connection with the puck and never regain it. The only way to make it work again is to turn off bluetooth and turn it back on.

This NEVER happened with the previous OS (Cingular .71) and I've been using the Telenav for more than a month now.

I also had issues with my Samsung BT headset and call quality after the upgrade.

Anyone else with BT issues, either headset, GPS puck, or others?

Great, it's running the update now! If I remember correctly, it takes a while so I'll let you know how things work out!

I appreciate your help a lot, on "that other site" I asked the same question and it's not been answered yet (I posted it yesterday)!!

Thank you!

My Pearl also has several recurring options, all of which don't work...

I only get a reminder on the first occurrence. Do the reminders work for subsequent reminders now?

I know that RIM was aware of the problem because Tech Support let me know that I was not the first to contact RIM with the problem.

Can someone please confirm that the reminders for tasks now work as they are supposed to?

I have been using reccurrin apointments from the moment I bought my pearl (about 5 months) and never had any problems.

How do you "wipe" the Pearl? I intslled the new OS as p[er instructions here, but didn't let the Pearl load properly and turned it on and off while booting (stupid I know - but I was getting nervous!) Now I get "Uncaught errors" all over the show.
Thank you in advance

Are you using recurring appointments, or recurring tasks? My calendar recurrences work fine. But the Tasks do not.

Thus far I have not found anyone that can confirm that they have ever used a recurring Task, and RIM has confirmed to me that this is broken functionality.

Please let me know if the latest OS release solves this problem.

Thanks!

Wirelessly posted (BB 9930t: Mozilla/4.0 (compatible; MSIE 6.0; Windows NT 5.0) BlackBerry8100/4.2.1 Profile/MIDP-2.0 Configuration/CLDC-1.1 VendorID/100)

I had heard that some of the new Pearl 4.2.1 OS's may have some A2DP capability with third party software. Can anyone using TeleNav or dollars5's MediaPlayer try it and see if audio comes through a BT headset? Just curious if anyone has tried it with this OS.

After being up for a few days, it looks like it will not automatically go into standby mode when I put it in my holster. Pulling the battery seems to fix it for a few more days.

Anyone else having this?

After using the new OS for a week I finally found a bug I can't live with.

When in a low-signal area (like my house) where the BB is switching between 1 bar and "searching," if you send a message when the BB is searching, the message fails (big red X). On previous versions of the OS, a clock would appear and the message would be sent when the BB next connects to the network.

Since I can't hold a constant signal in my house I had to go back to the previous version so I don't have to catch the BB right when it finds the signal and hit resend at just the right time.

Maybe they'll bring the clock back in a better version.

Ya I have noticed the same thing and it is really annoying.

Each day while i ride the subway I write several emails/ssms's and hit send even though there is no signal down there. Normally as soon as I get out of the subway it will send all the messages right away on its own.

After haggling with my T-Mobile rep, I got my hands on a copy of 4.2.1.91 today. We needed the capability to disable SMS via IT Policy under Security Policy/Firewall settings, which would not work with any prior version other than 4.2. Not sure it this is the latest release and/or if anybody wants a copy. Pretty sweet, and works well on my 8700g. If anybody needs, I can post a copy to my FTP server and PM you.

Do you have a group that starts with "3" "U" or "I"? I get a java error if I dial from home screen and hit the first letter of any of my groups. I had to delete all my groups.

So this is an incredibly stupid question, I admit, but your software is for the 8700, not the 8100 right?

How would this possibly jeopardize my rep? I'm not indulging their website at all, I have it hosted on my own FTP.

Until I know what kind of trouble this could cause, I've taken this off.

Because the OS you are posting about is unreleased and whoever gave it to you or even to him is probably under NDA (Non-Disclosure Agreement.) That means they're not supposed to share it. People have lost jobs over issues under NDA.

I respect the mods and admin, okay.

But this is not right. A guy comes here and puts the forum and it's members first, and gets jumped on. Let the rep who gave out the info worry about himself(I assume he's an adult), and let us members just enjoy ourselves.

Unless the rep goes around telling people he gave out the OS, his job is safe.
