Any other info necessary when switching to new version or simply download and install new desktop and uninstall the older one?

To clarify... this is not a new desktop, it's new device software.

1. Make sure you've got the desktop software installed.
2. DL and install the new device software on your PC.
3. Find and delete/rename vendor.xml
4. Plug Pearl in via USB.
5. Fire up Desktop Manager and it should detect the new device software and guide you through the upgrade.
6. DO NOT quit or unplug Pearl until the upgrade is complete. There is a long pause as it gets close to finished and you may think it's hung. Just be patient.

If you are at all unsure of this process, just ask!

Anyone... please correct this if I've misstated anything.

The PTT contact list makes me scroll to see my whopping 3 contacts - small bug there.

From Mobile Network, you can do a Diagnostics Test. This might not be new, but I never noticed it before.

Good to hear, thanks.

I'm not as brave as some of you, and I may just wait for the Cingular/ATT official release. Or maybe I'll get more adventurous as the night goes on...;)

I don't think you can.... I have been playing with it and this is the ONLY thing I do not like.... When it flashes to full icon mode I am finding it hard to see when some of the icons are highlighted... Specifically, Pocketday Sports and Beyond411

Thank you all for the information, links, and reports on the new upgrade.

Is there a way to back up the current OS just in case? Call me paranoid but I prefer to have a safety net just in case.

Same here..... Always boots into the browser and it locks up.... Just menu and goto home screen.... The browser works fine after that.... Just on reboot seems to be the issue

I noticed there's only English UK listed in the Language and Input Support section when going through Application Loader Wizard and selecting the applications to update. Anyone have any comments on this? I'm looking for English US or does this not matter?

Why the heck would they change the way a theme behaves? I want my list back. I hate these icons.

Itching to update, just because i want the latest and greatest. This and the TMo Zen Icon change are holding me back.

English US is always included which is why it is not an option during the install.

One more quick question. Does anyone know how to save your Opera Mini Bookmarks? I just upgraded to Opera Mini version 3.1 and lost all my bookmarks. It will happen again when I run this update.

I don't think the DM backup will save these since its not a native browser. I would rather not save them all to BB Browser and then back up.

Is this provider dependent (TMO-users) or does it happen to all (including Cingular)?

you can download .71 of tmobile or cingular theme.... install... copy the 100 zen theme file from the old version to this new version... it should then load the older theme with the list...

or use apploader to delete the new tmobile theme and then load the older one.

Did ask for permission to install anything first? Try denying the request. Or try going to the Application Permissions options and deny it there.
