Also had the option to view SMS in either first name or start with last. I've changed it to last name first thinking it was the phone book and I don't like it but forgot how to change it back! Where's the option for this? o.O

Yes. Capital A-nnoying. This and the Zen Theme's icons replacing the list are my only gripes...Otherwise, brilliant.

That is my biggest complaint. No Bluetooth On/Off option in the menu. I have to go into option and then bluetooth to change it.

I have no browser/messaging issue with T-Mobile.

I do have two IM folders, one with OZ in it and one with Blackberry messenger in it.

I have no time issues. I chose to remove the DST patch during install and everything is still at the correct time.

Almost everything seems improved to me; speed, the browser, the attachment service, media player.

I can deal with the T-Mobile Zen theme change fine, it doesn't really bother me either way.

I didn't see it mentioned before, but my picture thumbnails are a higher resolution. It took a while to load them the first time I opened my media card, but it has been faster since then.

There are also new notifiers and tunes. And there is a folder, thats full of other folders. I know on the 8300 you can make custom folders and put items into them. but that option seems to be left out. Desktop view is the greatest feature on any pda phone yet. It would be neat if they would have desktop mode for the regular homescreen.....

It's pretty simple. Locate the blackberry.alx file, open it in note pad, and then find the listings of the themes and replace one of the vendor id numbers with your carrier id. Don't know what cingulars is offhand, but I'm sure you could find it with a search. Hope this helps

Anyone else notice that alt-escape in the TMO Zen theme goes back to the right place now? I decided to go back to the last release (Cingular's) of TMO's Zen as the I like the list.

Now that they brought back the autobacklight option, will we be seeing the left convenience key also support voice-dialing in addition to whatever else is set?

Default Alx - 03-16-2007, 03:45 PM

when you modify the alx, do you have to put in the carrier id for all the themes you want...or just your specific carrier #?

I had that issue 5-10 times a day with the LAST ROM version but it seems to be gone with this new version.

Perhaps it was something NOT installed with the rom update. I made sure to select everything I could for this update.

FORGET IT. AFTER A RESET, I'M BACK AN HOUR AGAIN.

Irishguy and anyone else having a problem with the DST issue:

I installed this OS 4 different times. Each time the time was correct before enterprise activation, and then changed to an hour behind after the activation. To fix it, I wiped the handheld using javaloader and then I delete the DSTUpdate folder on the pc from c:/program files/common files/research in motion, and then reinstalled the OS.

Seems to be ok now.

Why can't I get this to work? On the Tmobile is it the SYM and the aA or # buttons?

Also I think it is strange that the TMo Zen theme no longer has the list, but when you click on the Profiles icon, that gives the old familiar list.

Been using it all day, no problems so far! Edited the alx file to get all the themes, I like the TIM one a lot - goes well with the Bloodberry.

I'm used to the full-window-icon mode, so I might throw on the old Tmobile Zen with JL_CMDR.

Is it possible to rename the cod file to tell the differences between themes?

Could you post the modified file somewhere for download please, or post the exact part which needs changing?

Thanks

Anyone let us know?

Has anyone tried BB Maps with a BT receiver to see if it works better now (less sluggish)? With the TMo 4.2.0.64 firmware the Pearl would get so sluggish after a few minutes of GPS updating. Sluggish to the point that key presses often had a delayed reaction of some seconds.

I'm thinking of updating to this firmware but don't want to end up with more issues than I have right now.

I suspect it would be best to not restore a backup? Instead sync with outlook and manually reload other stuff.....Thoughts?

Copy over all the file tags to your carrier's fileset. Or just download the edited alx file posted above.

Whenever I get a 404 browser error it seems the browser locks up. Anyone getting this?

Also there is this "Instant message" icon now, thought it was OZ IM client but nope, its not. It loads a blank screen.

ActuallyI can now, I see the Vendor ID numbers. But I wonder what you have to do to modify them?

And how do you get the phone to reload that file?

Deleting vendor.xml doesn't seem to do it.
