Default BB Maps w/GPS and Backlight

Please Login to Remove!

I searched and I couldn't find an answer.....

I just got a BT GPS to use with BB Maps, but I can't seem to keep the screen from turning off while using GPS. Anyone know how I can remedy this?

Thanks in advance.

In options you can disable backlight turnoff if the power is over some level you set.

It's in options...Go into BBMaps then go to Options. "Disable backlight timeout when battery power above:" select the percentage you want.

I have changed this option and it still has no effect, the backlight will still turn off at the set time for the bb....any other ideas.....

Try rebooting the device (removing the battery) and then try it again.

Pulled the battery, and it is still doing it. I have tried 10 and 20 second and also 1 and 2 min timeout intervals and it still goes dark after those times....I have had this problem for quite some time, I have reloaded my OS at least 3 or 4 times since I've started using this program, so I know that won't help anything either since I've done it plenty of times. Any other suggestions??

Is the backlight going out early all the time or just when using BBMaps?

The backlight will go out at the set time, all the time, regardless of the fact that I have the option set to 25% in bbmaps.

If I have the backlight timed at 30 seconds, it will go off in 30 seconds from the home screen, or from any other application/game, it will also go off in 30 seconds from within bbmaps.

Also, I have 45% battery life right now, so it should work properly....

So the backlight won't stay on while you're using BBMaps?

You've done everything right....I don't have an answer. Will the backlight stay on if you use Google Maps?

I dunno, I hardly ever use it....is there an option in there to keep it on??? Let me go look.

Is this possibly a problem with the .377 version from cingular? or is there a permissions settings that needs to be changed for the program...I've only left them at their default values....

Actually, now that I think about it I think Google will only stay on if you are using a GPS puck so that's not a valid test.

It's possible that permissions for BBMaps may need to be changed. Set everything to allow and see what happens.

Yeah, I'm not using a puck so Google Maps didn't stay on.....I set the permissions all to allow and pulled the battery....still the backlight will not stay on.

Just played with this some more today. BBMaps backlight will not stay on (regardless of battery level percentage settings) without GPS being active. Same with Google Maps.

Wirelessly posted (BlackBerry8700/4.1.0 Profile/MIDP-2.0 Configuration/CLDC-1.1 VendorID/100)

That really stinks...since I don't have a puck for BT for my 8700g....oh well. Thanks for the help.
