Default Problems with my new Cingular Red

Please Login to Remove!

ok here's the quick back-story. about a month ago, got a T-mobile Pearl... didn't like the service. switched to a Cingular Pearl. i was very happy with the Cingular service. when i got the first pearl i upgraded my Desktop Manager the new version that came with the TMO pearl (had a Nextel 7100i previously). the Tmo pearl and my first Cingular grey pearl worked fine.

NOW: yesterday i get the Red. put in my SIM and SD card, everything seems to be working fine. set up my POP emails, they work fine also. re-downloaded JiveTalk, also working fine. i have 2 issues......

1) my cingular email address is not functioning. i logged into the BIS page to use the "Change Handheld" option. i entered my new PIN and IMEI, no dice. my blackberry messenger is also not working properly (i assume i just need to re-request my people, but i can't do that without the email)

2) now this morning i look at the phone, and the 2 globes ("Browser" and "MediaNET") disappeared from my Applications screen. JiveTalk now says "Error Starting JiveTalk $2dBlackBerry $2dpearl: Module 'net_rim_ecmascript' not found." (used JiveTalk for hours last night without a problem)

i have tried several times to use "change handheld" to update my BIS. i have also tried to resend the Service Books to my phone. nothing seems to be working. the only other thing i've done since i got the phone was load my custom theme in there, and had Application Loader remove most of the foreign language supports while i was doing it

i figured i would post here before i spend hours on the phone with the Blackberry people probably... hopefully you guys can give me some advice

Try registering your device....

Options > Advanced Options > Host Routing Tables > click pearl > register now

Then resend service books....

also, 2 things i just noticed.

1. "Enterprise Activation" seems to come and go from my applications list as it pleases... sometimes it's there, sometimes it's not

2. i just got an email on one of my POP accounts with a text file attached.... when i click the Attachment, it doesn't give me the option to "Open Attachment" anymore

See the thread "Unable to Display File", which was posted earlier this week.

I had the same problem with my browser icons missing - read my original post. I just exchanged the phone, as I never got any resolution from Cingular or Blackberry. After you read my other post, open your app loader and see if you have the same "Unavailable Applications" as I did (this will make more sense when you read the other thread)

Default solution to the missing browser

I had the same problem (also have a Red Pearl) with the disappearing browser icon.
Try redownloading the OS, you can get the appropriate on at blackberryfaq.com/index.php/BlackBerry_Operating_System_Downloads

Worked for me. Good Luck

It might be helpful to manually delete all of the service books you can, then resend them.

Call Cingular support, or go back to your local store. They can do something on their end to make sure that the system realizes you have swapped phones. It sounds like there is at least one part of your service that still thinks you have the other phone. (my guess, anyway)

I had to swap out phones for a similar problem, they did all the switches in the store and made sure everything was working right off the bat. I had to resend the service books, but after the rep made sure he did whatever he has to do to reassign the service to my phone. Its not as easy as "just" swapping SIM cards with the Blackberries for some reason.
