Hi folks - I download podcasts of the news from CNN and the BBC to my Pearl every morning to listen to on the subway to work. I bought a media card for my Pearl and use IE7 and the * in the top left of the browser that brings up the feeds of these podcast services ...it brings up a list, I right-click and 'refresh all' then click to open each site and save each one to the Pearl by right clicking and 'save to' - the Pearl appears as removable disk F.

... it worked fine, and only took a couple of minutes, until I installed Desktop Manager. Now there seems to be some kind of race condition - sometimes I plug in the Pearl and it works, other times when I try to 'save to' the system says 'insert disk'! On those occasions I note that the media card is appearing in the Media manager window on the Desktop Manager. If I unplug and replug the Pearl and try it a few times it usually eventually works...

How can I avoid this condition? Is there a better way to download podcasts to my Pearl? I'm not very adapt at technology so please excuse if I don't explain all this correctly! All help appreciated...

Is mass storage enabled on your pearl? Check that.

Thanks - that gave me the clue. Whatever is going on, Desktop Manager seems to switch Mass Storage off if it can get to the Pearl before I start downloading my podcasts. To solve it, I went to 'Options' / 'advanced options' / 'Media Card' and switched 'Autoenable Mass Storage when Connected' from ON to PROMPT. That way, I connect the Pearl, whatever race condition takes pace happens, and then it prompts me to set Mass Strorage On which I do and downloading podcasts always works.
