something doesn't sound right there. how much do you use it, third party apps?

could also be that you have a bad battery.

My battery usually ends of the day at about 60%. That's with medium gaming, medium web use and light phone use.
I have my screen brightness at about 80%, and I recently turned off my signal strength indicator led. I have my screen timeout set for 60 seconds, and I keep it in standby when not in use.
I'm very wary about putting an IM app on it, because I heard they constantly ping the internet and cause more battery use.

One thing other you may want to check, how is the signal where you usually keep the phone. If you have a weak signal then the battery has to provide more power for the radio to search for the signal.

I'm also waiting for the 1250 ( medium ) battery to come out from Seidio for the Cingular version.

I think you may have a defect in your phone or battery, it shouldn't just last you half a day unless you're on the actual phone talking with someone that half of the day. I talk for at least 2 hours... I leave my JiveTalk on with talking to people sometimes, listen to music when commuting and at the end of the day at about 2 A.M. I have about 20% battery life.

With IM app running, lots of talk, email and browsing, I can still end the day with 50%+, easy.

Did you initially charge the battery fully, then run it down way low? If not, it may just be a battery gauge calibration issue.

If the phone is NEW like you state in your first post, you shouldn't have to buy one. You should get a replacement.

What about background apps running? hold alt + esc and scroll through your apps and see if you have a lot of them open. If you do, close the ones that can be closed. Having a few unclosed apps open can definitely drain your battery.
