Question Turns off in holster

Please Login to Remove!

My Pearl turns off in my belt holster for no apparent reason. It is a Blackberry pouch that puts it to sleep but I would prefer for it to stay alive. Any thoughts or experience with this problem? I'm with Cingular.

Do you mean you are not being notified of messages etc.? Have you checked your notification settings when your device is in the holster?

No I get notifications and incoming calls when it is on but occasionally (probably 5 times in the past couple of weeks) it just shuts off. I take it out because I need to make a call or haven't noticed it buzzing me to find it completely blank and powered off. No timer set to turn it off, no push and hold the button off, just off.

Have you checked your general settings?

As far as I know, I am not "telling" it to shut off. The Auto On/off option is not set to turn it off. I even thought maybe I was inadvertently pushing and holding the off button while in the pouch but when I try to do this on purpose, I think the sleep function has the buttons disabled so I can't force it off. Maybe the battery was loosing connection and forcing it off but I after much squeezing, pushing and poking, I can't get it to shut off this way either.

What do you mean by "general settings?"

Under general settings you can tell it what to do (in a general sense) when it is in the holster.

I would also contact BB directly. It may be a device malfunction.

OK, I wasn't aware of the general settings "holster" option. Mine had "no" checked for "lock handheld upon holstering." I assume it should be "yes" and that I may be inadvertenly leaning on the off button long enough to turn it off. I changed it to Yes and I'll see what it does. Thanks.

If your case has a magnet in it, it will out your phone on sleep mode. All your calls should still come in with no problem...

It is not asleep, it is dead. It goes off by itself. Also, after a simple test I proved that in sleep mode the keys are disabled. I put it to sleep and pushed the keys but got no response. So I can't be shutting it off unknowingly. I don't like the lock keys option because I have to unlock every time I take it out of the holster. I had a 7100 for a couple of years and never had a problem with the holster like this.

His problem is that it actually turns off and he doesn't mean the sleep mode that it normally goes to when it is with a magnet. What I think you should do it call BB as this is not normal behavior.
