That's right. The BlackBerry Pearl / 8100 has multiple LED's which allow for the color changes to take place. The other newer devices only have one 'white' LED in them. They can typically be colored by using a permanent marker, say... Red, Blue, Green! Not too bad either. That's what I had to do to my 8310 and 8820!

Cheers,
TS

I've tried xColorEvent and ColorPearl and they both seem to have problems with the latest version of the firmware. Whenever the coloring is enabled, all of the color LEDs are on at full intensity, no matter which color is selected. It only started doing this after I updated the firmware with the version that's stickied.

Does this application have the same problems?

I remember a few posts back saying this one doesn't work with 4.5.0.37

I just downloaded the trial version to see if it worked - no, sadly, those of us with 8100s who have gone to 4.5 have no color changing ability. And, sadly, as the 2nd gen Pearls are now gaining ground, I wouldn't hold our collective breaths waiting for an upgrade to either Color Your Trackball, or colorPearl.

Won't work for you since you're on Verizon with the 8130. You're stuck with the white led that it came with since that is the only one.

Angry changes led light - 07-29-2008, 02:31 PM

OK so i downloaded the color light program from handango and since it cant change the track ball it changes the LED light, not great but still pretty cool.. my problem is that it flashes and does its thing when i turn the program on but then if i get a call, text or email it stops and never comes back on unless i go back and turn it on... what is the point of that??? has anyone else used this program for a verizon 8130?? i dont get the function of it..

it also has a "flashlight" button, i have no idea what it does and when i click it nothing happens.

I have an 8100 with OS 4.5 and yesterday I installed the program to change the trackball color. First problem:I can't change the color of the trackball, just see 3 leds on under the ball. This give a good effect and it's cool, but when an sms arrives, the red led fhash and later stay always on even when the message was read. That is a real problem, so I decide disable the program and wait the next release.

Wirelessly posted (BB 11020)

Nick is correct. Remove the app. It just causes problems in OS 4.5.
