Talking Repeating daily alarm clock on pearl. - 03-27-2007, 02:52 PM

One of the things I have had to keep my 7100t around for is the daily alarm.

when I tried to use my pearl for my alarm I just slept through it because it only rings once unless you select snooze and then it only rings at that set time again. My 7100t will ring the alarm (in this case a 7100t ringtone) every 60 seconds until you either slect snooze or dismiss.

I am sure I am missing something, but I dont see any settings that will cause the pearl alarm to do this. I would love to be able to use only the pearl can anyone help with this one?

I have searched for this, but all I kept coming up with were a lot of to low volume and other sound related issues, nothing about it repeating the alarm..

-John

The TIM 4.2.1.66 upgrade brings that back. I'm loving the fact that I can just look up at my alarm clock every time my Pearl goes off and lay back down a few more times.

Thanks for that info, there is hope! I am not prepared to jump to another carriers OS yet though , hopefully T-Mo will bring out an update soon.

In the meantime, I guess the best you can do is pick an alarm tone that has a fairly long cycle and then set the "Number of Beeps" to the max of 3. I've never been one to sleep through my alarms though, so for some people even that may not be long enough.

***First Post On BB FORUMS***
(too excited about that!)

So today & Tuesday I was late to work because of my Pearl. I set the alarm and it went off both days. The problem is, I pull it out of the holster, press snooze (half sleep), and wake up and hour later with the dismiss/snooze option screen showing, and NO ALARM sounding. I also noticed that if I pull the phone out of the holster during the alarm it stops, and never rings again if I don't select snooze. This was never a problem with my 7100t. I have the latest OS shown on the TMO site. Any suggestions?

Tell me about it. I was late so many days following my upgrade to the 8100. There is no solution other than an upgrade on the OS. I wasn't comfortable doing it. A few people have loaded a long song or really annoying tone for their alarm.

I now just wake in a panic afraid to attempt a snooze and just get up.

It's rough.

lol... Maybe this will kick my snooze addiction. There really should be a support group for those of us who need forklift assistance out of bed every morning. Gotta love the 7am panic attacks!

haha NOT. I use mine everyday for its alarm. No need to buy another device when I already have one here.

Another trick is to make your alarm a daily repeating calendar occurance, and then on days you don't need it, edit or delete that single occurance only.

With that mentality I should also buy a camera, an ipod, a paper calendar, a phonebook, a yellow pages, a calculator, some handheld games, and a laptop. And maybe I should drag them around with me too.

Doesn't that defeat the entire purpose of a BlackBerry?

It's easier just to upgrade to the 4.2.1.94 OS....it's a pretty stable OS. My biggest gripe is the Bluetooth GPS disconnects. Other than that it's a smooth transition on TMo.

I use mine everyday as an alarm and love it.... I use a song from Kill Bill as the alarm Works well enough.

Anyway.... why buy an ipod when you can buy a Zune ;)

I guess I need to change my alarm tone because it's set for 5am and I find myself getting up at 6am.

Where on the new OS is the option to continue ringing? I've got the latest OS and I still only have the 1-3 number of rings.

Or you can just wait until you are a little older. One day, suddenly, you start waking up at 5:30-6:00 with the sunrise for no apparent reason, even on weekends. No alarm clock needed.

I haven't needed an alarm for a couple of years now. Sucks when I want to sleep in tho.
