Also worth checking with your carrier that MMS is provisioned on your account, particularly if you've recently added a BB data plan.

Great info ... on that last part ... provisioning - especially on Tmobile US its a tricky term. You may have provisioning on your billing account (which means nothing just that you're paying for the service) and you may have it in the switch as Legacy which is a bad thing ... my old provider Fido, had a rep that told me otherwise and after 15mins speaking with a tier2 I was vindicated as being correct on another device of course but same principles apply.
So sending yourself an MMS and receiving it confirming you can open it FULLY turns on the "provisioning" then troubleshoot receiving from another provider.
