Default stopping email attachments

I am thinking of getting a pearl but the I am not sure about controlling which emails are sent to my handset. Here are my dilemma's -

1 - is it possible to set my blackberry email address to only send emails & not attachments?

2- is it possible to set up my blackberry email address to NOT send HTML emails to my handset.

I get alot of spam & large attachments with my work but don't want a huge phone bill.

Hope you can help!

1. No, all emails to your account will come, unless you filter them, and I don't believe filtering based on attachment is available.

2. No, BUT, your BB will only download the "headers" of the emails it receives. You can easily delete those with large attachments (or never open the attachments) and not use that bandwidth.

I would suggest getting the unlimited BB Data Plan if you are overly worried about additional data charges. Likewise, setup a better spam software on your account and keep spam from coming in.
