No problems overall...

Could be a coverage issue...
Who are you using for service?
Try getting the latest SIM card they have out.

i get kind of the same problem. Whenever i'm at my cube at work and i do get a call it's crystal clear. never a dropped call. but every now and then my phone looses signal and goes to "searching" and then finds the signal again. Usually i'm at 2 bars, but what bothers me is that it usually goes into "searching" only if i'm touching my phone. so if i pick it up for a text messege while i am typing I notice the service goes away.

For me this problem happens when I try to go to some web page by Opera Mini.
But not always. Can anyone somehow make it clear why this happens?

Thanks in advance.

I noticed you have T-mobile. I have similar problem too.

I heard T-mobile have a few problems. It should be working fine now.

So I guess it is not a T-Mobile problem...

What version of the OS are you running on the 8100 (Options / About will tell you).

Solo, also, you didn't say what carrier you are connecting to... and how are you connected with them?

The carrier is Vivacell (definitely not famous).
I use GPRS without data plan. Just added APN address and use Opera Mini.

The OS is v4.2.0.64

I had mine go to no service one day when I was heading to a friends cabin. I figured I just didn't have service but thought i should in that area so I pulled the battery and put it back in. It worked after that.

It is not necessary to do reset, Just disabling/enabling the wireless network is enough to make it work again. But how much it will last nobody knows.

Can this be a bug of Opera Mini?

Have anyone used or tested version 4 of that browser?

I've seen this before when roaming on other carriers. Many times it has to do with the priority of the different signals the BB is picking up. If it picks up another carrier like AT&T it will switch but then it will say "searching" and you can't make a call because there is no agreement between TMo and AT&T in that area. The phone will hang there for a while, sometimes until you turn the wireless off and on.

You may be stuck with this in this particular situation.

Thanks John. And did you try to select network manually?
I will try to do so if the case is mixing the carriers.

Sometimes manual will help, sometimes not. Just depends. In your case, it very well may help.

Wirelessly posted (Opera/8.01 (J2ME/MIDP; Opera Mini/3.1.7196/1704; en; U; ssr))

You may just be in a low coverage area like me, I get 2 bars at best in my home and it frequently "searches for network". T-mobile has always had bad reception where I live, but as long as it works where my job is I am fine.
