Default Editing Address Book/Contacts on a PC

Please Login to Remove!

I just received a new Red Pearl from AT&T a few days ago and I would like to edit my address book entries information on a PC rather than editing it on the phone. Is there a way to do that or software available to do that. For each contact, I'd like to enter phone number and email address data on my laptop or PC and tgransfer to me blackberry.

Thanks

mikey, first, welcome to the forums. You'd do well to do a little research about your needs... what you are asking is a very common setup for the Blackberry.

Use Desktop Manager (load from your CD) to use Intellisync with MS Outlook, where you can type your contact names, addresses, phones, and then sync back to your Blackberry. Follow the directions, and Good Luck.

Default Research not so fruitful

JSanders,

Great welcome you gave to Mike!

Your help tho, is hardly friendly or adequate.

As you know as a self proclaimed Blackberry Master, the desktop software only allows synchronization and conflict resolution.

This is not what Mike; nor I for that matter, am looking for.

Be more friendly and not so sarcastic, is there a software title that you are familiar with that I can edit the phone book directly ON THE DEVICE , SELECT which Outlook Contacts to add/delete and modify the Blackberry address book directly from the PC, such as in the Motorola Tools where users can directly access the telephone?

Desktop Software (redundant) only allows synchronization.

I did my research.

Thanks in advance.

cwm,
I don't think JSanders sounds sarcastic at all. He's always trying to help so please stop being like that.

back to you question, I had the same problem not long ago. the answer is no, there is no other software that can help you in doing that.

the only one is outlook and in fact it really does it well.
"For each contact, I'd like to enter phone number and email address data on my laptop or PC and transfer to me blackberry."

once again, outlook is the program you need.

Second that, it works really well, just enter the info into contacts in Outlook, then sync.

And I don't think js was untoward, either.

As others have said, I second (or third??? ) that...I use Outlook 2003. Well, it's a pain to type everything in SureType, so if I have a bunch of entries to make, they go into Outlook, then I sync with the BlackBerry. In the Device Manager, you can set it up which way you want the contacts to flow. First time, I recommend you have Outlook overwrite your Pearl...then you can reset it to sync from then on. It's much easier to type 'em in on a full keyboard. The Pearl is fine for one or two at a time, if I'm out and about, though. For instance, at a place of business, if they have business cards, I'll plug their info in, as a new address, and I'm done--have them save their cards for people who carry all that crap around.

Default Outlook question need need has cropped up

OK folks I have a need to now add new contact folders to separate my private contact from my business contacts in MS Outlook 2003. BUT, when I did the synch thingy only the main contacts imported. I tried highlighting the applicable contact folder prior to another synch in hopes of maybe that would point to the new folder but that did not appear to work either......so......am I stuck having to just lump all my contacts back into the one folder in Outlook (2003) so my phone imports all of them or anyone know of a trick......?

thanks

Have not used outlook Xpress in years.....has to be Outlook I use the calendar, contacts, notes and transfer from work to home to stay up to date for time mgmt.

Hoping someone has ideas......if I'm out of luck well that's ok too...makes it more cumbersome but if that's the way it is then so be it...

thanks

it works perfectly.

For all the newbies, like myself, its important to first go to the desktop manager and click on synchronize then go to configuration then click on the button to configure synchronization. That's where you tell the desktop manager where to get information from.

Well alrighty thank you for pointing me into the deeper look into the configuration of the sync. I found all the sub folders in the contact and added them and then proceeded to the sync and it worked just fine all names are there and I still have my different categories for my contacts........

Thanks for the insight of the obvious, obviously it wasn't for me at the time....LOL.....
