Default Pearl emailing pics/BES version/BIS email?

Hi all,

(New Pearl, on Cingular in the US, unlimited data plan, BES server through my company)

I've done a search and read A LOT of threads about issues sending pics through email.

Essentially, there's no option for me to attach files such as pics to emails when I send them from my BB, so I'm under the impression that this is due to the version of BES my company is running. It's a big company with tightly locked down services; if I called IT to complain about this they would probably reply by remotely disabling the camera on the phone.

But, as I've also got my BIS service book working, hooked up with both a GMail account and a mycingular.blackberry.net account, shouldn't I be able to send pictures when I'm doing a "Send Using: Web Client" (my cingular or Gmail account)?

Is there any way for me to remotely find out what version of BES my company is running, without invoking the powers that be? Any other creative solutions to email these pictures?

Mark, I don't know how to "remotely find out what version of BES my company is running", but you could look at Options, Security, General Settings and see if any are listed there. I would not delete any of them. But you might discover something...

As for the IT policy effecting your BIS account, yes. The IT policy applies to the device. I am guessing in your case they own the device or pay for it, therefore have the right to lock the various uses of it.

I checked where you pointed me to; nothing there relevant. Oh well. It's true the company pays for and thus has control over this device. It's just silly to lock out a feature like this (probably due more to lack of upgrading than by intent).

Ah well, serial cables and presumably bluetooth will have to do.
