Hi all,

Another question: I have many names with titles. Dr. John Doe and so forth. On my old 7100, when sorting by first name, these used to show up correctly, with the D from Dr. not messing up the sort order. Dr. John Doe would show up in the "J's" alphabetically. After doing a firmware update it got screwed up, and started sorting with the D's.

I figured this would be corrected in my Pearl when I got it, but to my dismay, sort by first name actually sorts by title, when present, with Dr.'s showing up in the D's, no matter what the first name is.

Is there any known fix for this?

I'm running 4.2.0.71 by the way.

Try sorting my Last, First. That would solve the Dr. problem... or get the Dr. out of the First name field, it doesn't belong there anyway.

hmm...i've got the same issue...I put the "Dr." in the Title field, but it still lists it under "D" and not the first letter of the first name (and yes, I have the options set to view by first name). I guess setting by last name would work, but kind of a hassle when not all my entries have a last name...lol

That's exactly my point: the Dr. is in the TITLE field, not the first name field. So, when sorting by first name, the presence/absence of the Dr. (or Mr. or whatever) shouldn't affect the sort order. But, apparently due to a bug, it does.

Sorting by last name wouldn't help me much; I'm more into first names and as someone else mentioned, not all entries have last names.

Anyone have a solution?

Sorry, I misunderstood your first post to read that you had the "Dr." entered into the firstname field. I don't know of another sort order or suggestion other than to use the lastname sort, or even to remove the Dr. from the Title field.
