Default Calendar invite via email?

Please Login to Remove!

Is it possible to send a calendar invite to the Pearl (for an appointment) and be able to accept the invite so that the appointment shows up on the Pearl's Calendar?

I'm trying to figure out an easy way to get my appointments from a 3rd party application on to the Pearl without having to enter them on the Pearl or download them into outlook and then do a manual sync with the Pearl.

Any suggestions?

You cannot send calendar appointments or accept invites via email without BES. The best way to move your 3rd Party Application calendar is via Outlook, or getting your calendar into a text or csv file, and then use Desktop Manager to transfer via ASCII Import/Export.

Thanks for the quick response. The 3rd party software allows OTA sync for the TREO but nothing for the BB! It ws nice to have all my contacts and appointments in sync when I had the TREO. Too bad you can't send an email invite to the BB and have it show up as a calendar entry because this would solve the problem.

My issue is I don't use outlook anymore so doing a sync means I have to first download my file from my 3rd party app into outlook and then syn it with my BB. A real PITA. Hopefully someday my 3rd party app (handles all my email, calendar, database) will be able to sync these over the air like they did with my TREO.

Thanks again.

Well, as I said, BES does allow OTA syncing, if that is required for you.

You can avoid Outlook as I stated, to cut one step from the process of moving the data. Use the ASCII Import/Export feature. No Outlook involved... still a PITA, but it works.

Thanks again. My app can export via ASCII so I'll try this. I have not looked into BES but I assume I don't need it.

So if I export my calendar as a CSV I assume I save it to my desktop. If so, how do I get it to my Pearl? I briefly played with the desktop connection manager and could not figure out how to get it from the desktop to the Pearl without first opening Outlook and importing the file and then doing a sync.

Thanks again.

Open Desktop Manager, Click on Synchronize.
Click tab at top CONFIGURATION.
Click Configure Synchronization. Uncheck ALL boxes except Calendar.
With Calendar highlighted, click CHOOSE.
Click ASCII Importer/Exporter, and follow the instructions. You may need click Options to make sure you use the correct comma designator , etc.

Thanks! So far so good but now I need to play with the configurations to get it to recognize the format.
