Default Camera Problem

Please Login to Remove!

When I try to launch the camera on my 8100, it gives the following error "Could not start the camera. Close other applications and try opening the camera again."

I do not know exactly how long it has been doing this, but my guess is a couple of months at least. I noticed it probably 3 weeks ago. Though the only thing different from the last time the camera worked that I know of is that I took the SD card out (I'm currently not using one). I did just update to OS 4.2.1.66 to see if that would help, and it doesn't. I thought maybe it had to do with the amount of free space on the internal memory, but it has probably 40% free (26703620 bytes free, 64356352 bytes total).

If no one has any ideas before I get home tonight, I guess I'll try throwing in the SD card again to see if that helps.

Maybe the camera is looking for an SD card to save the pics to but cant find it and thinks that some other app is using it (maybe media player). Try haveing it save directly to the internal memory instead.

I thought that, but I just went into the camera and hit the menu button quick to get into options before it could error on me. It is set to save to the device memory. It still doesn't work. I didn't get a chance to find my memory card last night or this morning.

I just tried it with a memory card, and it failed anyway. Same error. This might be a hair frustrating, but I guess I can head to T-Mobile and get a new phone since I have the insurance. Or at least see what they can do.

Have you pulled the battery or done a soft reset?

Try the hard reset (battery pull for 15 secs). If that doesnt fix it, then just get it replaced. Not worth the headache if the unit is defective to begin with.

I probably should have mentioned that in my first post. I have done both a hard and soft reset before to see if that would fix it. I soft reset every day at least. I did another hard reset, and it still doesn't work. Sounds like I have to replace it. Oh well, thanks for the help!
