Default Loose trackball on Pearl

Please Login to Remove!

Just received my Pearl from Cingular and the trackball seems very loose, to the point that it actually makes a rattling noise when I roll it. Is this normal? I have not activated the device yet, and need to know whether it is defective or not before sending it back. Thanks in advance for replies.

Your Pearl's trackball should make a clicking noise, don't confuse that with loose.

It should feel firm, otherwise. If you feel it is not up to snuff... now is the time to head back to the retailer... Ask them to try it, or try another in the store to compare.

There is zero resistance when I roll it. Sucks that I ordered it from the Premier site, as I will have to wait... again.

That is a pain. Do you have a friend with a Pearl, or a local tmobile or other dealer store you can go "check" one out... and get a comparison?

I believe the sound coming from your trackball is normal.

You can check this in your Options Under the "keyboard" option.

There is an option to set the sensitivity of the trackball, as well as MUTE the clicking which I believe is enabled by default.

Some like the clicks, some dont. I kinda like it.

I think that it is the thing that the poster above me said as well. Just turn the osund to mute and see if that makes any diffrence.

The faint rattling sound was with the phone off. I stopped by the Cingy store and learned that they all feel like this. Not like the trackball is going to fall out, but almost too easy to roll. Guess they are supposed to be like this.
