| Can the Pearl really not ring AND vibrate? Please Login to Remove! Is there no way to make the Pearl ring and vibrate at the same time? Coming from other mobiles (SE, Nokia) this seems very odd and I've already missed calls because of it.
I have the TIM Italy OS if that makes a difference.
Thanks for any suggestions.

| I wonder why this is? Is it simply a programming thing, or is there a hardware limitation, or does the power draw for both speaker and vibration take too much current? This is so strange.

| I also came from Nokia, so I do miss the ring/vibe feature. But my Blackberry has so many other feature that far out weigh my old Nokia. =)

| There is actually a benefit to having it the way it is.
My pearl is set to vibe+ring. I usually have my BB on me so I can get to it by the end of the 1st vibe. This is great when i'm class or any other place where I shouldn't have my ringer on. However, the odd few times I don't have my pearl on me I can hear the ringer go off after it's done the 2 vibe cycles. I don't miss any calls this way and I never have to worry about switching back and forth from vibe to ring and vice versa.

| Can someone please tell me why it matters whether it rings and vibrates at the same time or at different times? No trying to be an ass or anything, but why do you want them both at the same time. Thanks in advance.

I like vibe then ring as well, but I wish it had both. In fact I'd give up ring only if I could have ring and vibe at the same time.

| vibe and not ring haven't tried it yet but can't you set it to vibe + ring and then put the volume on mute? that would give you just a vibe no? | | Offline

| Someone just answered this in another thread. I have had my phone set to vibrate then ring since the first day. goto Profile-Advanced, Select Profile (Normal)- press menu- trackball to phone-Change out of holster to Vibrate+tone.
Is that what you were looking for? I hope so! | | Offline

In fact I'd give up ring only if I could have ring and vibe at the same time. | I just put my Pearl on a metal surface (usually the base of my desk lamp) and it vibrates the metal as well. You can hear it in the other room if need be. | | Offline

Sometimes the vibe isn't as strong especially if I have it in my jacket or coat in the winter. Having a vibe+ring at the same time is actually a pretty logical concept. | | Offline

Thanks in advance. | Beacause having both at the same time maximises the chance of you noticing the call ASAP, no matter what situation you're in. I have personally found this to be the best way. | | Offline

| The best reason i like vibrating and ringing at the same time is because when i'm in my car and have music going, i might not be able to hear the ring, but i can feel it vibrating...and i don't have to switch it to vibrate whenever i get in my car.
and when i'm not in my car, i can hear it ringing from across the room (since i obviously couldn't feel it vibrate on my bed or something) | | Offline

| I have missed calls because I had not felt it vibrate, so after the 2nd vibe and a ring people tend to hang up. Add to this the carrier delay between the time the caller hears the answer tone to the missed vibes and the ring it takes me to answer... (No, getting rid of the answer tones is not an option as this is my company phone and I work for Cingular The new AT&T.)
Now I have it set to 1 vibe. Hopefully this will be something they change moving forward. I can see how some like the way it is now, but considering the huge number of included (and imho mostly useless) ringtones, alert and alarm tones, adding this option doesn't seem like much to ask.
