Default pearl as laptop modem on BT - new error?

Please Login to Remove!

Okay, so I am going on a trip here soon and wanted to make sure the bt modem setup was working for the trip. Mind you I already had this setup and it worked perfectly fine.

I go to check it and now I am receiving a:

Disconnected.
Error 87 : The parameter is incorrect.

After it goes to verifiying the username and password after dialing. WTF?

So, I plug it into the USB and create a separate modem connection using the standard modem (usb link) with the SAME initialization commands and it works perfectly fine. What's up?

Same settings for both and it querys fine under bt, but yet gives the error above....

Sometimes the COM port gets changed when you create a BT connection or USB connection.

Go to the properties of the connection an check the general tab. The modem(s) (COM ports) the connection will be attempted through need to be checked. If a modem or port you do not want to use is check make sure to uncheck it.

If you have an old port checked say COM4 and the new BT connection is on COM5 your going to see this error.

Problem solved... after much looking to figure out what the problem was I noticed that when I installed DM SP1 that it still had the previous version still listed in add/remove programs.

- uninstalled all DM instances
- rebooted
- installed DM SP1

Both BT and USB connections now work as modem! Sooo, I guess the rule of thumb here is to always uninstall DM before upgrading to a newer version...
