Welcome to the forums.

Put the .alx and .cod in a folder somewhere you won't delete them. Then plug in the device, open Desktop Manager and run Application Loader. Use the "Add" button and browse to the .alx file. That will add the app to the list of apps. Then finish the install. The .cod will be added to your device and you'll have the ColorPearl application.

Are you using the link for "OTA?"

In the first post of this thread is a link to a website. There are two links there. One for OTA and one for .alx.

Hover your mouse cursor over the OTA link and note the address. Type that address into your BB browser. it should end in .jad.

If all 4 are lit up it's likely there.

Go to Options >ColorPearl and change it to something other than white.

Default Replace 8130 trackball - 01-19-2008, 04:38 PM

Does anyone know if replacing the 8130 trackball and housing mechanism with one from an 8100 would allow the color program to work?

No. The other devices don't have the LED's in the circuit board. It cannot be done.

Vadadanielle, there are more than enough posts in this thread that will tell you how to install this color pearl application.

The easiest way is to use your BB's browser and go to:

HTML Code:
http://www.geekandproud.net/blackberry/colorpearl/colorpearl.jad
Install the program. Then go to Options >ColorPearl and set as desired.

From your Applications List in Options >Advanced Options hit the menu key and select "Modules." There should be a module in there for ColorPearl. Delete that module. You may need to reboot the handheld afterward by removing the battery and reinserting.
