Type in this link EXACTLY (case sensitive) in your BB Browser:

It won't do you any good on your SD card. You need to point your BB Browser to the OTA link and install that way. Otherwise you'll need to extract the .alx and .cod to a folder then open Desktop Manager and click on Application Loader. Then click "add" and browse to the .alx file. Finish the installation.

OTA Link
how do you extract the alx. and cod. files. all i have on my desktop is the jad. file and no program to open it. im not signed up for the blackberry service yet. thanx

JeRM, You can only install this app via OTA. To do this, just open up your BlackBerrybrowser and select "go to" and type in the following address:

http://www.geekandproud.net/blackberry/colorpearl/colorpearl.jad

another way to do this is to copy this address and email it to an email account you have set up on the BB. then open up the email i nthe blackberry, and click the link.

JeRM, there should be two versions available to download. The one you need for installing through the Desktop Manager will have an .alx and .cod file. The .jad and .jar are for OTA (over the air) installation.

I accidentally got my trackball to flicker different colors when a call comes in. I don't recommend anyone do this intentionally, but thought you all would find it interesting.

I was eating dinner and didn't realize I got some honey/orange glaze on my fingers. (Bet you can tell where this is going!) Later I realized I'd gotten some of this sticky stuff right on the trackball and had been rolling it around! I panicked and immediately cleaned it as best I could without taking the whole thing apart. Now it's just a tiny bit sluggish, but when my phone rings the trackball flickers different colors! I'm still worried that the trackball will stop working, but for now it's pretty cool!

Don't worry, it's a setting to make it change colors on ring

Go to the Phone App. Then press the menu key and select Options, then General Options. At the bottom of the page is "Ringtone Lighting."

Maybe I should have explained that I haven't installed Color Pearl. My trackball glowed plain white when it rang, until I got it dirty and it started flickering random colors.

Since my trackball was still a little sticky, I took the trackball out and cleaned it real good. Now it's back to the plain white glow when it rings.

Hookem, where do you see a setting to make it change colors on ring? Is it standard (my Ringtone Lighting options are only Trackball and Off) or in the Color Pearl app? I thought Color Pearl just let you pick one color, not flicker random colors. I'm just trying to decide if I want to dowload it.

Doesn't look any different than the included blue. Now if only I could get black to go with my theme.

The same thing happened to me when I installed it. All I did was turn the power off and turn it back on. Light went away and everything is happy now.
