OTA stands for over the air...basically downloading it through the phone and not through the computer.

Just installed and very pleased. I wish that the pearl had a built in option for the status light too. I don't really NEED all that comes with BB Alerts but I'd like to take advantage of the entire phone's capabilities.

Exclamation how to turn off white LED... - 11-26-2007, 01:19 PM

hi metsfan;
thanks a million for this great piece of code.. it works like a charm... however as you might know by now, every time you enter a custom code, the white LED is also on the whole time and it blends in to the level that the custom color does not seem to appear as its suppose to....
do you by any chance know how to fix that?
thanks for your help

I just got the color pearl app but the custom colors I put in just seem to make the trackball turn a rainball color. Anyone know why?

Have you tried just using the colors that are preloaded in the app?

Yeah I have tried all the colors that come with the app and they work pretty good...but I do have the option to custom color them and when I put the code in it just keeps turning the ball a rainbow color. Maybe im doing something wrong?

Default Operating system version? - 12-09-2007, 05:29 PM

Tks in advance for cutting a newbie a little slack; how do I determine what OS my Pearl is running? It is a black Pearl (AT&T) with silver sides and backing and though it has no model number printed on the BB itself, I am about 98% sure that the model # is 8100.

I am not a fan of how white is not a pure white. I tried to uninstall the program but once I do I have no back light for the ball.

HELP! please.

How do I get my old pure white color back?

If you just disable the ColorPearl program then you should get only the white LED. If the program is uninstalled then the light should work as it did before installing the program.

When I did disable it I would get no backlight at all, I tried to uninstall and same thing no back light.

I plugged it in and tried to do a restore but still no backlight without the colorpearl app installed.

Never mind, I just tried to disable again and it worked!

I have no idea, I am new to this phone and I am still getting headaches trying to figure everything out.

Thanks!

My question is, why would they have this feature disabled altogether in the first place? Also, I don't know if it's mentioned in this thread, but if you have the Ringtone/Trackball LED enabled, it turns the LED's back off when it's done ringing. Then you have to disable and re-enable the ColorPearl.

Yes, the ColorPearl app conflicts with the rintone/trackball LED lighting.

It seems like it would have been a good app for RIM to incorporate but they didn't.

How does the soft reset work if your bb is locked up?

I loaded the color pearl and was dissapointed that it does not work for the 8130.

No....it's not a virus or malicious software. It needs access to the phone app (phone logs) in order to not lock the device when you're on the phone. It has to be able to talk to the phone app to know when you're on the phone. It's a trustworthy app.
