Wirelessly posted (BB 11020)

This happens when you have ringtone lighting enabled.

Go to the phone app. Press menu and select options. Then select General options. Set ringtone lighting to no or off (can't remember the exact menu choices)

I know there's already a program to change the trackball color, but it had no OTA install, so I never got around to installing it, and also wanted something I had more control over.

It's pretty simple right now, all it has is enable/disable and color selection. You can set these in Options->ColorPearl.

You can download it here.

I plan to have more options at some point, but need suggestions on what they should be.

Edit: Version 0.2 is out, same download location!

Colors: White, Red, Green, Blue, Cyan, Yellow, Pink, Custom (Hex RRGGBB), Random!

Do you need a micro sc card in order to add this application?
Same guy here: have a White Blackberry pearl 8100 (says on label) and when I open the application loader, it says that The BlackBerry Desktop Software does not have the Blackberry device software for the device that you have connected to the computer. Contact youre wireless service provider or system administrator.
I dont get why its doing this even thought i installed the cd that came in the box that said 8100 BB Pearl

I posted a link for you in my post above. Did you click on the link and read the FAQ?

No, you don't need a card.

It's an application you download. Information for downloading and installing is in the first post of this thread.

Welcome to BBF. Use of the search button would easily yield lots of results for this:

If you go to that website using your phone (data plan required), you can click the OTA (over-the-air) install link and it should take care of the rest.

If you don't have a data plan, you use your home computer and download the ALX/COD for desktop install and then use the Desktop Manager software that came with your Blackberry to install the program by clicking Application Loader.

Hope this helps... keep in mind you absolutely have to have a 1st-generation Pearl 8100. Nothing else will work. At all. Ever.

Problem was that I was looking for an Icon on the Blackberry 'desktop'; but there's no icon!

Here's how to change the color after install-

1- FROM THE PEARL DESKTOP: go to the 'Options' icon and click it. Looks like a wrench.

2- scroll through the listings until you locate the 'ColorPearl' entry.

3- click it. You're good to Go!

BTW this is a nice app. The colored pearl is an eye-catcher.

Jim
I had real problems setting the colour, but thanks to you Jim I did it, it looks wonderful!

P.s. I Did Delete And Did It Again And It Still Does This.

The program mixes the different colored led's to produce the pink color. I know there are a lot of posts in this thread but there is some good info in it about this app and how to use it.

The OP (original poster) and developer of this app hasn't been around here in quite some time. I doubt we'll see this app revised for the new OS.

OK, I downloaded the app and installed it (and uninstalled it) both ways.

Every time I try to run it (and every time I turn my BB off and on again) I get "uncaught exception: java.lang.Error

I searched this thread and found one person above at this post who seemed to have the same problem. I don't seem to have an IT policy (I searched a few threads) and can't find anything regarding Third Party Apps in any of the menus.

I'd love to get this program running - anyone have any suggestions?

I'm sorry if it is said before but I can't find it throughout all these posts. I have an 8100 Blackberry Pearl using Sprint and I just downloaded this through OTA from my phone. BUt when I go to colorpearl in the options it says "Colorpearl only works on the Blackberry 8100/Pearl". Do you know what's wrong? I have the phone it says it only works on...

You have an 8130. Not an 8100. Big difference. It won't work. Sorry.

Love it! I have a custom setting "652999" it makes a pretty, girly light pinkinsh with a tad of purple, and the white light is barely on so it's not distracting.

Thanks metsfan! U rock!
