The RRGGBB means the number in amount of RED (RR) Green (GG) and Blue (BB) So delete the 000000 and change the number to the amount of Red, Green, and blue you need, then set it to custom and there you have it... Have fun!

Here is another reasons i like this app better than the other color changing app. The trackball turns off along with the screen (ie if you use autolock, it turns off with the screen) It doesnt wait for the full 30 seconds to turn off.
Unlocked 8100c w/ 1 gb microSD, BSE total body skin, and rubberized case or silicone skin.

Yeah, that's how it works. And it's a hex field, so the "numbers" go 0-F. To put in a letter, hit Alt-key. To put F instead of D, hold Alt and hit D/F twice.

I have a great understanding of how it works with letters, but think of the higher the number in the field the higer amount of color there is in the LED. Notice if you do not want any red just go 00#### and the Red LED will not turn on at all. Can someone explain to me the use of letters, as this isn't the same as HTML.
I honestly didn't know that it was even capable to turning the LED brighter or darker through software like this so I give you mad props for this program, thank you.

I got the newest version and when I set it to random it works fine until I end a phone call. The pearl goes back to its original color. If I standby the phone, and wake it back up it works again.

I might. I've started looking into it, but haven't really done much on it yet. It's something I'd like to do, though.

Sorry to be asking again, but does anyone else notice that the white light under the pearl messes with the brightness of the color?
Metsfan, is there any way to turn the white light off when you have a color enabled? It turns on when autodim kicks in.

I haven't seen a way to turn that off. Your best option would probably be to upgrade to the TIM firmware and disable autodim. Or take the ball out and electrical tape over the white LED.

Great work, keep this up. The day this app changes colors to score you'll have all kind of sport fanatics asking for specific sport portage.

And I'll do it. It's not going to do any of the parsing itself, just be able to check a webpage for a color.

sweet program, much better than "colour your trackball"
Here's a couple features that might be interesting to see in a future release:
A mode in which the trackball will actively and randomly change colors at a user-defined speed (from as fast as a few milliseconds to as long as a few minutes)
Also, as many people have said, It'd be cool to see it integrate with messages and calls.
Great prog! keep up the hard work

No rush though, we don't want to work you off to death. The white led issue is really annoying but I guess we will have to live with it. I honestly got used to it cause once I started using green and blue for a light blue, it looks better. All I can think of what he said, put electrical tape or just color the led with a black sharpie.

taping over the white led works quite well, and while you are in there, you can use tape and a sharpy to color the keyboard backlight as well.

Works perfect. I'm interested in hearing people's feedback on batt life as well. Although so far I'm really happy w/ it. Is there any way to get a standard white light from all 4 leds? (benifit=stays on w/ backlight) Just curious.

Additions to the program? -
04-19-2007, 09:23 PM
I did think of a few possible additions the programmer might think about in the future. It would be nice to be able to set the trackball to light up with a specific color depending on certain messaging events. Things like SMS received, Email received, Missed Call etc. Each could be a specific color so that if you look at your phone and see green, for example, it might mean you have unread emails. If you see RED it might mean you have missed called. If it alternates between red and Green it might mean you have both missed calls and emails. This might be a good thing to have especially if on a silent profile. You would get a visual color indication of what has arrived on your BB.
Just a thought!

I had been using the TIM OS (4.2.1.66) since this colorpearl program came out. I had auto-backlight disabled and it was always a light blue color.
For a number of reasons I downgraded my OS back to the Cingular OS (4.2.0.71) and could not believe how dark the blue was. With the auto-backlight going on/off now with no ability to turn it off in the OS it still pretty much stays the light blue. Kind of annoying though jumping between the shades.

There isn't really fine control of the intensity of the three (red, green blue) LEDs, sadly. I can't make it do anything better. The RRGGBB number you set is just passed along to a RIM API function. My program doesn't manually do anything with those numbers.

Ok, so I had this problem with the other app, and now with this one as well.
1. Install and run the application
2. Have a bluetooth device connected to the blue LED flashes
3. A new message comes in and the red LED starts to flash as well
4. Either on it's own or when I go to press a key the LED will light up solid like it does when you get a call.
5. The only way to clear it is to go into your messages and open an unread message.
As soon as I un-install the application it stops doing this.
I love this application and want to use it but the solid LED thing drives me nuts so I have to leave it un-installed.

Yes there it, using a jeweler's screwdriver. San Francisco did the original thread on this complete with numerous photos. Search trackball color or something to find it.

I found this website useful too:
mediagods RGB to HEX color picker
though, the colors won't "translate" from screen colors to "light/LED" colors perfectly, because we're dealing with light combinations here and not screen pixels....if that makes sense.

Idk if anyone else has noticed this, but using Dollar5's media player resets the trackball color to white. I hav no idea what is going on there, but i think it is a conflict between colorball and the dancing trackball option in the media player (I have the dancing trackball turned off and it still resets).
