Welcome to the forums,
It won't do you any good on your SD card. You need to point your BB Browser to the OTA link and install that way. Otherwise you'll need to extract the .alx and .cod to a folder then open Desktop Manager and click on Application Loader. Then click "add" and browse to the .alx file. Finish the installation.
OTA Link

Try it out and let me know what you think.

It's pretty simple right now, all it has is enable/disable and color selection. You can set these in Options->ColorPearl.
You can download it here.
I plan to have more options at some point, but need suggestions on what they should be.
Edit: Version 0.2 is out, same download location!

Works just fine on my 8100. In response your your request for suggestions for possible options here are a couple.
1) I find the "pearl" leds can be rather bright (especially at night) so having an option to choose brightness level would be good (if that is possible)
2) To be able to choose the "pearl" to flash, cycle colours or similar on in uncoming call and/or message would be nice. (especiallly if phone is set to silent)
Thanks
Andy

Another possible option would be to disable the white LED altogether. sometimes the white is off and theres just a nice little blue pearl there, but when the white light is on it kind of outshines the blue a bit. Just a thought.

Yeah, it would be actually kind of cool to actually add this feature to the application or simply make and individual application dedicated to an ON and OFF option to the WHITE LED ?

The LED's are there because there is an option in the Phone application to have the trackball light different colors when the phone rings to mp3 ringtones.

where is this option to make the led go different colors during a mp3 ringtone?
and a cool feature for this program would be to have a option for it to constantly change the color like going from one side of the spectrum to another or even be able to fade between two custom colors!!!
that would make this program untouchable on top of being able to disable the white led so that the colors really come out!
what do you guys think?

Excellent application there
and the ONLy thing I would change is that, the white LED makes the intense red and all others much lighter, almost a pink
getting rid of the white LED while Color Pearl is on would be a great improvement IMO.
Thanks a lot for this and kudos for the work!!!

I tried using the RGB thingy to change it to a color I want, by using the chart. For some reason it's not working.. it goes back to one of the colors that we have as an option: pink, cyan, yellow, blue.. am I doing something wrong?
This is the chart that I am using to get my colors.
