Question Time Zone Patched Removed?????

Please Login to Remove!

Every time I install or uninstall software, it constantly removes the time patch, does this happen to anyone else?

I've seen that too, but I think it's just the patching application, not the patch itself. After I'm done the patch is still there.

The patch is still on mine, kind of, but it says it's not installed. When I try to install it, I have to re-download it and then install it.

I have had yet to experience that problem, even when I upgraded to the new TIM software my DST patch was still there and it said it was installed. Can I ask what you are doing that you get that message. IE what programs are you installing.

Thanks

Lightbulb DST Patch removal

Is the DST patch still necessary or is it now a moot item and could be safely removed?

It is NOT a moot point; remember that the old DST tables would kick in during October.

Yes, you should download the patch.
Also, using Desktop Manager 4.2, SP1 keeps the patch in place.

Wow, no wonder.

I have Desktop Manager 4.2.0.10, so now I'm gonna go find that patch. Thanks for the info!

I don't think the patch is necessary anymore. I did a wipe the other day after I downgraded from the TIM OS. I never re-downloaded the patch and all my times are correct.

Of course it's still necessary.
Your time is correct because we're currently in the middle of DST.
You'll have a problem when DST changes back to Standard Time in November if you don't have the patch installed.
Your clock is going to change to Standard Time one week too early.

Well, when your BB resets itself (falls back) to the wrong time on the last Sunday of October, remember why. You need the patch.

Old DST end: last Sunday in October
New DST end: First Sunday in November

DST starts two weeks early and ends one week later.

Your BlackBerry will reset itself improperly.

You're probably correct about that, but I don't think I'll be using the same phone in November. I'll probably upgrade when my contract is up in October.

Good.
In which case please do not suggest to anyone (on this board or others) that the patch is not necessary.

Alright, sorry I didn't think about that aspect of it. It's not like the patch won't be available at that time to re download. All I said was I didn't think it was still necessary I admitted I was incorrect.

Does anyone have a copy of the patch to upload for me? I tried to download via Blackberry.com and theres a vista issue I believe, even if I download and install the program, and What devices are affected by Daylight Saving Time (DST) changes? wont load and I can't seem to find any alternative, I'm tired of my phones time zone changing by itself every 5 minutes to Eniwetok lol, wherever the hell that place is. And by the way I have DSTUpdateLoaderUSB.mis and when I visit the BB site I install the same thing but .cab and neither seem to do anything at all.

EDIT: Nevermind... Visit BlackBerry to download from your BB if anyone needs it or is having the same problem as me.

You should be able to download it on the BB directly from BlackBerry HELP! and load it.
