Default Data Plan Required?

Please Login to Remove!

Hello again, a friend of mine is looking to get a blackberry but T-mo is telling him that its 100% required to have the data plan in order to keep the phone, is this true? Ever since he saw my phone he absolutely loves it, but he has no use for email and internet really, can he just cancel the data plan after a month or is it impossible to cancel? Or does he need to have a continuous data plan in order to have regular phone service with a BB? Thanks for the help guys.

PLEASE NOTE!!!!
I am not asking if theres any sense in having a BB without internet, I am simply asking if its REQUIRED to keep t-mobile's service. Please do not ask me why he doesnt want it or why he doesnt get a different phone, I don't mean to be rude but the other thread I made similar to this became a debate on whether or not a person should own a BB without the data plan. I appreciate your help and this forum is the best BB forum I've found yet!!!

A BlackBerry will function fine without a BlackBerry Data plan. T-Mobile is not being 100% truthful here. You already know the limitations.

"Voice only" SIM cards will work in a BB.

Somebody's misunderstanding something somewhere along the line....A friend of mine bought a Pearl because it was "cute" but has no use for the data plan so didn't get it.

You really are quite the character.

Maybe its YOU that is "misunderstanding something somewhere along the line", you seem very concerned about people purchasing BB's w/o a data plan.

Get your doctor to prescribe some Paxil for God's sake.

Both of you - and I mean BOTH of you stop it right now.
As far as I am concerned, you are both wrong. So stop it.
