Default How much do you type on your Pearl?

Please Login to Remove!

I'm just curious as to how much everyone here uses their Pearl to type out e-mails and text messages on a daily basis, opposed to using the camera/media functions. Are you comfortable enough with SureType to make out long e-mails and text messages, and using it as a true e-mail device? Or do you use the 8100 more for its media functionality?

I might send / reply to 4 or 5 emails a day on it, but they are short responses... I might send / respond to 10 or 15 text's a day...

I only have a week under my belt with my BB, but from yesterday to today I must have typed out about 25 SMS messages, fairly long. SureType is really comfortable for me so I dont mind typing on it at all.

just wondering-- do you feel like you use it less because of the lack of QWERTY, or does it have no effect on your usage?

Yes I do use it less.... BUT that is mainly because I am use to qwerty BB's.... I hacked out detailed email and text with the 8700 and the 7290.... Now with the 8100 I do tend to shorten them up quite a bit.... BUT, I love the form factor of the 8100 so to me at least it's a trade off that I can live with...

From someone who has never used a qwerty blackberry, I have no issues, I guess since I havent been blessed enough to use a qwerty version, but it works out better so I dont feel like I'm downgrading by using this key set lol.

Yeah, the people I know who went from a regular cellphone to the Pearl really love the suretype. I am a little bit spoiled with the 8700g's layout however lol

Use a BT keyboard for those longer emails. I've got one and I find myself getting it out more and more. It actually works quite well. It's worth it to me to have the small form factor.

I use it heavily for texting...and an occassional e-mail. I also use it if I need to plug in a new contact. I sync with Outlook 2003, so if I have a bunch of stuff to enter, and it can wait until I get into the office again, I will usually wait to type it on my work computer. SureType is tons better than T9, but it is still a PITA to type TOO much...and prefer a full keyboard for that. But I love the size.

this is my first blackberry so the suretype is no problem for me. i mostly use it for emails. it doesn't matter to me long and short. the whole family uses the computer so it's easier for me to use the pearl. mostly from my guys in iraq emailing me and it's quicker for me to respond since i have my pearl w/me most of the time.

Wirelessly posted (BlackBerry8100/4.2.1 Profile/MIDP-2.0 Configuration/CLDC-1.1 VendorID/100)

I use it for everything, web browsing, emails, and texts and it's really comfortable typing with the sure type

I use the media player for sync'ed material (video and MP3's). I also do a lot of emails (both business and personal) throughout the day. I am not always at my computer so I am constantly responding to emails on my BB. SMS a lot to friends throughout the day. I receive a lot of documents so I can respond quickly. I am on a couple of state wide coalitions so mobile email is da bomb for me!

PS: Can't forget about the BBF! I am "wap"'ing that periodically throughout the day also.

LOL, same here, everyone barely writes anything and I find myself filling up the screen.

I guess I type a lot on the Pearl.

My emails are as long as they need to be, regardless of whether I'm typing them on the Pearl or not.

I never use the media player though and only rarely use the camera.

I am very comfortable with SureType now. Hated it at first but now I love it.

I type/reply 10-15 emails a day on the Pearl.

Rarely use the camera or Media Player.

I hve had my pearl for about 4 weeks now, and i love it. I type about 5 emails a day, and most are fairly long, and i to about 10 or so text messages a day. I am also on myspace alot on my phone and i do type emails on there quiet often. I quess it helped using my friends pearl alot before i got my pearl. I am coming from the samsung 807 slider phone, so every once in awhile i want to type like i would on that kind of phone. But i never want to go to another phone ever. I AM VERY HAPPY WITH MY PEARL. well worth the money considering i payed $175 to leave my contract with cingular to move to tmobile just for this phone and there service

Hope this answers everyones question
