Default Phone in front pocket. Standby mode best?

Please Login to Remove!

I just got my Pearl and love it. I switched from a Razr to a Pearl. I always carried my razr in my front pocket and plan to do the same with my Pearl. Is standby the best way to avoid accidental button pressing and calling? I need to make sure I don't miss any calls or messages as well.

I did a search and see all kinds of crazy stuff about standby and keyboard lock, etc...

I have a BSE skin and slim cover ordered for it as well.

Standby mode is fine if you don't want the keypad to respond if it accidentally gets pressed. It causes the screen to keep re-lighting, which is a minor battery drain. However, if you're using your phone as an MP3 player like I do, you have to use keyboard lock mode because standby will cause the music to pause.

If i were you I would download the autolock app that metsfan made. Just search for it in the after market section. If your phone is in standyby mode it wont answer an incoming call sometimes. With autolock you can decide how long the phone will wait before locking.

Thanks. I'm going to give autolock a try.

I have always used Standby by holding the mute button. All my calls go through. When you get a call the screen lights up and allows you to answer it. However, emails/sms/ect still chime&vibrate but the screen stays dark during arrival and the led becomes active.

Standby = hold MUTE, to come out of standby = press mute once
Key lock = hold *, to come out of key lock= press * then SEND

Summary = Standby saves you .5 seconds to go active. Given that you do go in and out of standby 20 times a day, you will save yourself 1 hour a year.

My original Pearl would work just fine in standby. But with my replacement, If I miss a call, the phone doesn't go back into standby, which makes for me accidentally hitting all kinds of buttons. Then if I make a call or somebody calls me, as soon as I hang up it goes into standby mode like it was waiting for me to talk to somebody all along. I think I'm gonna try out that autolock program out for try.

It is a really good app. Metsfan makes some mean apps.
