Hi,
Has anyone found a better solution yet to combat spam email on blackberry?
I get plenty of spam and I don't really know what to do...

Use a different email, make a different email? Usually when you get spam it means it's time to change emails and not to subscribe your email to so many things.

I really cannot do so as my e-mail is a sort of public e-mail. Everyday new customers/clients receive my e-mail. Changing the e-mail is not a solution…or at least not in my case.

Get yourself a Gmail account. Forward your current e-mail address to the new Gmail address.
Only use the GMail account on your Blackberry.

GMail has excellent spam filters and will prevent most, if not all, of your spam from reaching your Blackberry.

That will just forward all the spam too, won't it? Spam going directly to the GMail account will get filtered out nicely, though.

Is this a work email address that goes through a BES or do you use the Blackberry Internet Service?

We subscribe to a third party spam filtering company called Postini. All of our corporate e-mail goes through their filters before it hits our network. They do a great job. Changing e-mail addresses is not exactly an option for many people. I am not sure if Postini would work for you (they are expensive) but they do a superb job.

+1 on Postini... they are expensive though as NJ said. We use an in-house appliance called Ironport. It's pretty powerful, but again, pricey. Not sure what your setup was but there are a lot of SPAM solutions for different budgets. Email Firewall (Tumbleweed) can be configured as a SPAM solution as well.

Sort of. The spam will obviously be forwarded to GMail, but it will be filtered as well. Messages marked as spam by GMail will not be forwarded to the Blackberry.
I forward at least 4 e-mail addresses to one GMail account, and it filters the spam as if the message was sent directly to the GMail address.

Do what Penguin said. Not only do you get spam free email on your blackberry but you also get a backup of all your email (inbox/sent box) on your gmail server so if you have the gmail mobile app installed on your phone and you already deleted the email message off your pearl you can go to gmail and easily find the message.

I use gmail in between my work email account and my pearl and gmail catches 99.999% of all the spam so I rarely get any spam on the pearl.

I forward my mail to my rogers BIS address. I don't know if other carriers have spam filtering on theirs, but I think I've only had maybe 5 messages make it through.
I also run spamassassin on my server to make sure everything is properly flagged.

the idea is great knowing that Google mail has the best antispam techs. at this moment.
just that my e-mail has a signature, it is configured with outlook 2007. and I already see myself in a mess with outlook not receiving emails anymore as they all go to Gmail....

or is there a way to still receive them on my laptop via outlook and on my bberry via gmail?
pls advice,

p.s. what is the way of getting g-mail on my bberry?
