Default Need help to Reset/Restart or Re-initialize

Please Login to Remove!

Hello all,

I am a new member and I have never used this forum before.

Basically I received a blackberry 8100 from my company. I was on the corporate server, linking to my outlook account with my company and under the corporate IT policy.

I have since left the company so I no longer want to be under the corporate IT policy. I also think my phone is locked because when I insert a new non T-mobile SIM card, it says "Invalid SIM Card". However, when I go to Advanced Options/SIM Card, it says security disabled. I am not sure what this means. i.e. if my phone is locked or unlocked because these two conditions seem contradictory.

I am looking for ways to reset my handheld to factory settings so that I can:
1. Unlock the phone (by having Tmobile send me a new unlock code)
2. Insert a local SIM card for the country where I am currently.

I figure if I can reset the phone, then I can call T mobile and have them send me an unlock procedure and then I can use my phone with a new SIM Card.
I can reset all settings, because right now, I don't have admin access to change the mis-spelled name that shows up on the home screen.

Please let me know if you think my phone is already unlocked or how I can wipe it clean so that it removes all the corporate IT security features.

Thank you,

you can wipe the handheld by going to Settings->Options->Security->General Settings->menu->wipe handheld (i think there's a quicker way, but i couldn't find it quickly) this will wipe out everything and restore to factory defaults. Not sure about how to unlock, but im sure someone on here will post ya some info

SIM Card subsidy locks don't show up as SIM security. You need to go Options->Advanced->SIM Card. When in the menu, type "MEPPD" and a new section of menu will appear. If any of the items under Personalisation are "Enabled," that means it's locked. Typically, it's the Network that is enabled. T-Mobile can give you the unlock code.

As far as erasing the device, you can follow the directions in AfterWord's post. But, that won't remove the IT policy that has been installed. There's a sticky post here that can help you with that. Good luck.
