Default Where is all my memory?

Please Login to Remove!

I have deleted all of my media (minus preloaded) and dont have any big messages in my folders, yet I only have 9 megs of space out of 64. I downloaded Google maps a month ago but I wouldnt assume it would be that big. Does anyone know how to free up more space besides deleting my emails?

Phone call logs can take up a bunch of space....

Go to the Message Application and hit the menu button then select View Folders then select Phone Call Log... Scroll to the top date and hit menu and select delete all... This will clear out all the phone call logs and could free up a bunch of space depending on the size of it...

I deleted the call log (which was 30 calls) and it only cleaned up about 40 kilobytes. Well, thats something.

I guess you did not have many calls since you got the device..... Some can get rather large after a few months....

Not sure what the issue is but 9MB is quite a bit free actually....

Have you deleted foreign language support by any chance? I'm going out on a limb and assuming you don't speak 27 languages, so you can delete the ones that you don't speak, that will free up some memory. Also the "sample video" can go, but it sounds like you got that one already.

I am unsure how to delete the foreign language support. Can you do it though the unit itself or do you have to dig into it when it is plugged in the computer? As for the sample media, it doesn't give me a delete option from the device. Is something I can delete when plugged into the PC?

You can do the foreign language support two ways. From the Pearl, Go to Settings-->Options-->Advanced Options-->Applications. From there, you will see all of the applications that have been loaded. You can select each one individually and click on it (press down on the Pearl after you scroll over the program). A menu list comes up, select "delete" and thats it. It will delete the program and then tell you the phone needs to restart in order to complete the removal. Just select "restart later" and you can continue selecting the languages you want to delete.

The second (and probably quickest) way is to go to Desktop Mananger, then select "application loader" you can then select (uncheck) all of the languages to remove at one time, plus the sample video at the same time. You phone will automatically reboot at the end of that process. It may take 5-10 minutes to start back up after that, so don't worry if the hourglass spins for a while.

Do you do hard resets daily? Don't be someone that just leaves the phone on and never resets it, turning it on and off (battery pull) clears up a lot of room.

I tried to use the application loader to uninstall all the extra language support. But, they don't show up there. They are visible when I look at them on the device itself as described, just not in the Application Loader Wizard. Any hints as to how to see them there, so I can uncheck them and delete them via this interface?

For what it's worth I did it the hard way and freed up about 4 megs. Then I deleted that sample video and got about 3 megs more. Now I'm up to 21.3 megs free, from an original 14.7.
