Default Envelope/Message Icons.

Please Login to Remove!

Of the two message envelope icons on my 8100 'desktop' one shows just e-mails (perfect!) the other shows both e-mails and SMS's.

How do i set up this second one to just show SMS's and not e-mails?!

I have tried to change it under 'view folder' but it doesn't stay in this view...?

Help!

This is normal. The "Messages" icon displays all messages i.e. SMS, MMS, emails (from all accounts), etc. Your email account will give you a separate folder for just the emails.

To separate you need to upgrade the OS to the TIM OS in the sticky at the top of this forum. That OS had a new feature to separate out SMS from emails.

Thanks but according to blackberry the latest OS for the 8100 for Vodafone UK is:

Applications: 4.2.0.67
Software Platform: 2.2.0.39

which I currently have?

Not sure where the sticky with the TIM OS is/was mind you?!

ReeRee, John gave you the best advice available, you can upgrade to the higher OS from TIM to get the feature you desire. It is NOT a Vodafone OS, but will work. You should read through the thread of discussion to decide if you want to go this route.

Erm, feeling rather stupid here but I've dowloaded the new TIM OS and am having difficulty in working out how to get it on to the 8100?

The more simple it is the more complicated I seem to make it!!

Help?!

Read the instructions in the very first thread of the link John gave you above...
http://www.blackberryforums.com/gene...tml#post482649

To install this update:
1. Download and install the latest version of Desktop Manager
2. Donwload this OS and install it to the PC.
3. Delete the vendor.xml file located in c:\program files\common files\research in motion\apploader (this step is necessary any time an OS is installed from a different carrier than what is branded on the BB.)
4. Plug in BB and open Desktop Manager. You should be prompted to upgrade.

Good luck.
