I don't really know how to use my Pearl, and for some reason the ABC is stuck in the right hand corner. I know this shows up when I am texting or emailing, but why is it showing now in the main screen? I have no idea how to get rid of it - I've closed all the applications I was using and it's still there!

Also, is it just me or is there a way to get my phone to light up when I am receiving a message? All I hear is beeping with a black screen........

Go to your mail, a text, gmail or whatever. Once in there hold down your asterisk key. That will make the ABC go away and return you to suretype.

The screen will not light when a message is received. Also, one thing to note is that on 4.2.1 the holding down the "sym" key will not change between SureType and MultiTap. You have to hit the menu key and choose the menu option to enable SureType or MultiTap.

Mine had the ABC on when my Gmail app timed out in the background and was expecting me to input my login/password. Short story, check through all open applications to see if one is in a text field.
