Default Screen/Backlight

Please Login to Remove!

I'm a newbie, & cannot figure out how to keep the screen from going to absolute black when my phone is not in use. I know how to alter the Backlight Timeout alright, but how do I keep the display showing after the backlight goes out? Hope this isn't a really dumb question! With my old phone you could always read it at a glance to check if there were missed calls/messages, without having to click on a button to get the screen back up & running.

well if it could be done you would kill the battery pretty fast if you want it on all the time try BB-light its on the forum just do a search the other option bb-alerts program won't keep you light on but will notify you case you missed it

Thanks, I don't actually want to keep the backlight on constantly, I just wondered whether it was possible to have some sort of onscreen display without the backlight, but I guess not.
After some more searching I've discovered that the flashing LED will notify me of a new message at least.
But if I want to check for missed calls I suppose I'll just have to hit a key to check the screen every now & then.

ya i know what you mean the 7520 from nextel use to have a screen like that but the new breed of bb don't but they have a great clear screen

My 7290 has a small red light at the top that flashes if I've missed anything (mail, txt, phone, appointment reminder).

The Pearl has that too.

If the blinkly light isn't notifying you of missed calls, check to see if you can change your profile whatsis to make it blink when a call is missed.
