Ok guys, well, i bought a Blackberry 8100 for £80 off ebay, think i got a bargain. I love the idea of the phone, purely for its features but if im honest i don't know much about it.

So, whats the MUST have apps, software etc? I like tinkering with things, like different themes, different "hacks" etc for phones.

Whats the best advice you'd give to a new user also?

I'll be using it on the Vodafone network and im hoping to use it to check emails etc too.

Let me first suggest that you read the Sticky Notes at the top of this forum and the top of the General Questions forum, and in the Aftermarket Software Forum. There is one particular thread regarding Must Have Software and Killer Apps. Likewise, click on the link in my signature below and scroll to the bottom for Stinsonddogs tips for the 8100.
All that will give you more than a start for what you asked. Good luck.

First get a BSE skin for your Pearl. It will keep it looking new. Then get a microSD card so that the media will not take up too much space on the internal memory (you will need that for the apps). Then just browse the forums for some cools apps. I reccomend, auto lock, soft reset, and the color ball. All three by metsfan. The rest of the apps you should decide on because in the end you will be using the phone.

I downloaded BBweather, I clicked the ball twice so the phone wouldnt lock like that page said, and I typed my zip code in for loc. id, and saved it..

when i try to see forcast i get this error.

Error: open tunnel - failure
