Default Missing Messages

My 8100 is not listing most of the messages I'm receiving, either emails or phone. Yesterday I received about 10 text messages I needed and they aren't listed. In fact, all that's listed are 12 messages from today, then the list skips to Apr 4, where it lists two messages, then Mar 9. Is this a software glitch or have I not set a setting correctly?

Thanks!

Most likely your 8100 is running low on memory, and it will often begin to delete some SMS messages and phone logs to clear space for new email. Easy to fix, but read these threads for advice... this is a common problem with 8100, using the search feature on this board is convenient...

Thanks, JS. I didn't realize this was an "8100" problem. So, a bug in the software? Poor design?

Shouldn't RIM correct the problem?

When you think about, it's kind of alarming that BlackBerry, which has made its reputation on superior message handling, would have an inherent problem not only in this key area and with a phone that's been so phenomenally popular.

Bug or whatnot, it's an easy fix and it is smart to reboot your BB about once a week or so anyway, just like your desktop computer.

Well, I've done a bunch of deleting and optimizing and at the end of it all I have a File Total (under Options>Status) of about 65MB and a File Free of about 18MB. How close to a "norm" are those numbers, do you think? Also, is there any way on the 8100 to view a list of components to see how that 47MB (65-18) is being used?

Yep, look at Options > Advanced > Applications > Modules for each application > View Properties and you'll see the size listed.

18MB in the phone memory is good, if you have pictures, etc., that could be moved over, that sometimes helps a lot.
