Question What's the use of a PIN

Please Login to Remove!

If I understand it right every Pearl (or BB for that matter?) has a PIN. Is this basically the serial number? And what's its use - I see some people put theirs in their signature.

It's basically like the plate number of your blackberry.. each BB has one. It can be use to contact another blackberry thru PIN to PIN messaging or via BB Messenger.

Ah, ok. So does the messaging work accross countries / networks too? If so there must be a DNS equivalent that translates the PIN into a phone number to connect to, right?

Does this messaging through pins count as messages on your account?

No. PIN messages are part of your Blackberry Data Plan.
They are not counted as SMS messages.
