I get this when entering a new phone number into my 8100. I'll put the number it, save it and still be at the entry screen. If I save again this is the error.

I upgraded my FW and can't recall if this error started then, or more recently.

Any ideas on a fix or remedy?

I have a nullpointer exception too. I try to enter a telephone number in a message... When I typed in the first numbers they get underlined and it says input system is restarting and throws a nullpointer.... Any ideas?

Have you recently installed a new application? Do you have the latest OS for your BB?
