Default Operating System?

Please Login to Remove!

I tried to do a search on this under the 8100 forum and it said it was too broad of a search. So I apologize if this is a repeat!

This is for the Cingular version of the Pearl...

Red Version:
Version: 4.2.0.89
Applications: 4.2.0.73
Software Platform: 2.2.0.41

Black Version:
version: 4.2.0.88
software platform: 2.2.0.41
applications 4.2.0.71

I have the black pearl

1) Would it be okay to upgrade to the red pearl's operating system if I have the Cingular version (black)

2) Which one is actually better?

3) What are the differences?

4) Will my third party apps still work if I switch to the red version of the operating system?

5) Will my pictures & stuff transfer with it?

Thanks in advance if you answer! I really would like to know before I do something drastic and upgrade to the red operating system download. even if you can only answer one or two questions, I'd appreciate it! My last thread only got one response so I'd appreciate more replies to this one. I want to make sure I am making the right decision with my Pearl!

Between those two versions there would be little or no change as they're only 1 build appart

Yes, but again, I'm 99.99% sure you won't see any difference either way

And all the current shipping black Pearls ship with the .73 OS now. At least, my "at&t" branded black Pearl had the .73 OS when I picked it up on Tuesday.

.73 just adds the at&t branded theme.
