My Pearl has been working perfectly for a couple of months now and then when I went to type up an email the suretype was behaving badly. I checked my custom word list and it too was empty.
Anyone had a problem with surtype acting up?
Any solutions?
I am getting sick and tired of having to use the track ball to adjust every few letters of each word.
I am running T-Mobile 4.2.0.64 (Platform 2.2.0.37)

I don't know that I've had the custom wordlist disappear. Some things automatically delete when memory gets tight, i.e. emails, phone logs. I'm not sure if the custom wordlist does the same thing. It might be time for an OS upgrade, though. There is a sticky at the top of this forum for the 4.2.1.66 with instructions on how to upgrade.
SureType badly needs a live spell checker within it. The word 'this' often comes up 'ygis'. I even noticed that on one of John's recent posts. However, on annoying mistakes like that, I create an AutoText to permanently correct it.
Yeah, the problem "ygis" gets into your custom word list and needs to be deleted. Once you type it in wrong once then it's there. Creating an autotext to fix it is a good idea! Thanks.
It could be that you accidently changed your input language from English to another language (Afrikaans is the first on the list and most probable) so I'd check your options/language first. It happened to me a few weeks ago and I could no longer type. Almost pulled my hair out! Found it happened to another user here and he suggested the language input problem and this is exactly what it was.
Do a search on my posts and you'll find a recent thread started by me. There are step by step instructions on how to fix it if you can't figure it out via options...
Also, I find it useful to clear my custom word list every few months. It tends to fill up with garbage, since it learns from emails you receive as well as new words you type - and that means that it may pick up misspellings in the messages you receive.

You can always use Application Loader on your Desktop Manager to remove all of the foreign language supports. (Unless you speak 27 languages fluently, and have friends that do the same...)
It'll prevent the accidental reset to another language, and free up a lot of memory.
^^^What the man said! Yes! I did it (but I kept the UK English just in honor of brave brothers in arms). lol But it is such a good idea to get rid of the languages you don't need.
