Default Audible.com files "clicking" and skipping

Please Login to Remove!

I have downloaded an audio book from audible.com | Download books, magazines, newspapers and radio shows and have stored it on the micoSD card in my Pearl. when I listed to it, it clicks and skips at a fairly regular interval about every 30 seconds. Some words are missing but I can usually tell what was said in context.

Does anyone know a solution to this problem? The audible.com help section and search functions are abysmal. I am a little tech savvy and it took me 24 hours to get this audio book to work on the Pearl because audible.com is just not that user friendly.

I'm having the same problem with this - just installed last night. Does anyone else have this working?

The problem is still there and is acknowledged by Audible.com. My advice is to make sure you have the latest version of the player and complain to customer service about the specific problem. For a while I got pretty good responses (and apologies) from them and they seemed to be genuinely concerned. Lately I have just received generic responses. Maybe with at least both of us prodding them they will get on the ball.

Ditto for me. I imagine America Online never saw the end coming as well. In the end, it all comes down to customer service, and Audible.Com is completly shunning the BB community.

Just out of curiosity have you tried the mediaPlayer from dollars5? I haven't attempted audible on my bb yet but I thought about taking some things off the iPod and consolidating for some trips.

Audible.com AudibleAir expression of interest

I think we should all start inquiring at least weekly with audible support. Their customer service has always been outstanding. I have always been impressed. I am willing to ride through a troubled spot with them if it means getting solid blackberry playback. Hell, I am so hooked that I have put my laptop in my car to play audio books when the blackberry doesn't work.

As a side note, it seems that the skipping is worse on some files than others. I don't know if it is length related or specific to how or when the files were encoded by audible. Any other insights?

Default The really annoying part of this issue...

So here's the really annoying part of this issue. I'm about a day away from buying an Ipod or SanDisk MP3 player $200 - $249 just to play books. Considering how close the BB is to handling everything - music, calendar, phone, etc. it's just sad that I have to blow (literally) so much money to hear the books. I would suggest that the BB people start beating on the Audible.Com people as well.

Right there with you. My wife loves here new 8310 - even better than her old TREO. She'll definitely be a convert if I can get the Audible problem resolved for her. Keep the heat on Audible and maybe they'll put more effort into supporting Blackberry.

Sorry to hear about your difficulties but I would recommend not spending upwards of $200 to play Audible files. If you must resort to buying a device for the sole person of playing Audible, I would highly recommend the Sansa Clip. It supports Audible files and won't empty your wallet. It is only $60 regular price and typically in stock at Best Buy. If you watch the Sunday ads this time of year they have some specials. On Black Friday they had this device (2gb) for $35. I have personally tested this with Audible and it works great. See below for a link on Sandisk.com and also BestBuy.com.

The official Sansa Site

SanDisk - Sansa Clip 2GB* MP3 Player - Black - SDMX11R-2048K-A70B

I hope you get an answer to fixing this on your BB but if not I hope this tip helps.
