You don't need to reload anything. These are directions for setting up personal email. If you're supposed to connect to your company's BlackBerry Enterprise Server, you need to contact your IT department and perform an Enterprise Activation.
Before you start, go to
Options --> Status. Scroll down to the
IMEI field, hit the
Menu button (button left of the trackball) and select
Copy.
We'll use this later...
The first thing to check is if the icon is just hidden. From the home screen, hit the
Menu button and select
Show All.
If you still don't find it, open your browser and go to:
http://bis.na.blackberry.com/html?brand=mycingular
This is all the Personal Email Setup icon does anyway!
Create a new account. The ID you enter will be used for your @mycingular.blackberry.net email account. You then need to enter your BlackBerry's PIN and IMEI numbers. This is a lot easier to do on the device itself since the PIN should populate automatically. Scroll down to the IMEI field, hit the
Menu button and select
Paste and then hit
Save.
You can now proceed with setting up other email accounts on the BlackBerry, but it's a lot easier to do on a computer. Just go to the same URL.
One other suggestion. Don't use your blackberry.net email account - except maybe for utility stuff. You can't access it except on your BlackBerry, there's NO Spam filtering available, and once it's gone from your BlackBerry, it's gone forever. Gmail and Yahoo work well and have excellent Spam filtering.
