Default Blackberry 8100 vs SE p990i

Please Login to Remove!

I come from germany and need a smartphone for push email service.
I work with apple computers and need a good sync possibility.
At first I thought the sony ericsson P990i would be the best for me.

But now I´ve found many bad reviews for the SE and a lot of good reviews for the BB 8100.

Perhaps the BB 8100 could be the better choice for me.

I would feel happy about some tipps and opinions.

Thanks from Germany

Hi there, I guess SE phone are very popular in Europe. I have used the P800 and then a P910i with BB connect in the past. Although you get your emails through BB connect, it is still not as fast as a real BB device. Also, using BB connect zaps out battery power quickly.
I have switched around Palm Treos and BBs back and forth after the SE P series phones and the BB is clearly the winner (battery life, stability). The Pearl is a great BB phone. If you want a full QWERTY, you may want to wait for the BB Curve. The keyboard of the SE P-series are a bit harder to use compared to the Treo and the BB.

hi -

since you're a mac use (like me) you will be limited in your pick for synching apps.

you may want to check out the mac user's corner and look for some more advice there.

Being a P800, P910i owner I can tell you that the SE series are good for programs and customization, if you are just looking for push email go for the 8100, if you are looking into more than e-mail and you do not have to get your e-mail as soon as someone sends you an e-mail, then the SE series will have more buck for your money. The 8100 lacks video recorder, memo recorder, MMS (if you are not planning to get the Data plan, then no MMS for you) Internet by GPRS (again if no data plan > no service book > no browser) and the SE series provides the above. In terms of size, the Pearl is just great, the SEs are heavy and bulky.
