Default MS office editing on Pearl?

Please Login to Remove!

I plan to purchase Blackberries for myself and my fiancee' in the coming days w/Cingular. She will be getting an 8800 most likely as she likes the full keyboard. I wasn't looking to change devices (from nokia phone) until I was researching for her. I am looking at the Pearl

My biggest question for both of us is if we can edit MS Office files. I have read in several places that you can view word, excel, ppt files (don't know if with standard or 3rd party software). This is great for us, but we want to be able to EDIT them.

Is this possible with the 8800 and/or Pearl? If so, standard or 3rd party software? Sorry, but I haven't had luck searching for the EDIT capabilities. Thanks

see your post in 8800 forum... no need to post same questions in both.

Welcome to the Forums.

Well, the post did pertain to both the 8100 and 8800, so... Why not potentially double the amount of readers/answers? ;)

Yes, thank you. I love forums of all kinds but don't get the grouchiness or "suggestions" of power users. To me, if you are annoyed, don't respond, ya know.

FYI, to those who discouraged the double post, I also understand everyone is entitled to express an opinion and thank you for welcoming me here.

Off to a smashing start here!

The question was asked and answered here:

MS office file editing on 8800/Pearl?

Double posting is frowned on here not only by 'power users' but even more so by the moderators. We were simply trying to give you a hint before a mod had to. Next time you might try a thank you and a apology for it instead of a slam...

But then again, what do I know.....

Best wishes!~

LHead, what about the above post doesn't show me saying thank you? It's too bad you felt slammed because I thought I was accomodating of your "hint." I love everybody

There was no grouchiness from either of us, just a simple note that your post had been answered on the other thread, and a suggestion to not double post the identical question. I know you had good intentions since you have both 8100 and 8800 devices, and the answered applied to both.

Annoyance has nothing to do with it.

Just reading these posts makes me wonder why the title is related to the 8100 Pearl and Excel. If I did a search for Excel on the 8100 and the poster adhered to the one post "rule" then I would not have found my answer.

Because the bunny trail took off into a discussion of forum protocol I am not sure if I can edit Excel on my 8100.

I welcome the double post because I found this when I searched for excel in the 8100 forums. Way to go typehxr1 keep up the good work!!!!

Back to the topic... I'm not sure you can edit it but you can definitely view it from your phone and if you sync it to your PC, that's when you can edit it...
