Default Dropped my pearl, now keypad and click on ball are not working

Please Login to Remove!

So I dropped mt Pearl, called ATT they said I have to return the unit to wereI bought it, bought it from a cingular sales person who won it in a cingular sales contest and had no need for it, he also no longer works there. Cingular will not replace the phone underwarranty until it is 30 days old

So I pulled the battery and the SIM, reload, setup wizard comes up roller ball is responsive, rolls and clicks, once I say remind me later, ball will only scroll but not click, keys are none responsive, and after a few minutes it powers down. So essentially the keyboard is none responsive, could this be software and should I try the restore setting in my desktop manager!!!! Network service etc. is fine, if the keys would respond, seems weird the ball functions work until I enter past the setup wizard???

Any thoughts would be appreciatted.

I would say it's mostly a hardware issue, if not totally. You have a few options: Obviously, you can take it to the store once the Blackberry warranty kicks in (I assume that's the reason they won't take it back yet so Cingular doesn't have to be responsible for it). You can pay them to fix it (takes forever and costs too much). Or you might be able to part it out on ebay or here on BlackBerryForums. Depending on how much you paid for it you might make your money back if you're lucky. Also, I'm assuming you didn't get a receipt for the phone since you bought from the person rather than the store so good luck getting warranty coverage.

Hope this helps. Good luck to you.

thats BS, keep calling. I bought my pearl from a member on here and was able to exchange it. I gave them my IMEI number, they told me it was under the 30 day and I could bring it to store....i told them this was easier for me to do cause i work late and she said ok and i got a new one 2 days later

So what was it that rendered me inoperable. After 4 hours with tech support, wiping out my OS and reloading, it still was not working. Went to the local cingular store and tried to get a relacement and 2 minutes into the coversation they had it fixed, apparentlythe volume button on the side was stuck and that locked my whole unit up. Lesson learned, apparently the employeee's wife had done the same thing. So I wanted everyone to be aware of a simple fix for what appeared to be disasterous.
