Default Activated Cingular data plan, but I have no browser icon?

Please Login to Remove!

I have had my pearl for a week, and just activated the data plan tonight, over the phone with a Cingular rep. Now how do I get online? I have no browser icon, and the manual shows a little globe I should have. Any help would rock as the Cingular guy was clueless, and now they are closed.

Pulling your battery at this point, to reboot the BB is always a good idea also.

By any chance, is this a Red Pearl? If it is, go to the Cingular support site, find the Blackberry downloads, and download the most recent OS for your phone. Do a backup of your phone with the Desktop Manager before you get started. Run the OS install. The phone will restart after the install, it will take about 5 minutes to restart, you'll get the spinning hourglass while it does.

Once that is finished, log in to the Cingular Blackberry site and resend your service books. Do a battery pull to top it off, and you should be all set.

Many of Cingular's Red Pearls got shipped with a bad OS load, so the first time you synched your phone to your computer it removed the browser apps. Since you didn't get the data plan right away, you didn't notice. The new OS load fixes it.

>Options >Advanced Options >Host Routing Table >Menu key >Select "Register Now."

It can take up to 24 hours to completely enable your data plan, however.

Thank you, I did that, I guess I have to wait. Would the Sim card have anything to do with it? It came with a 3g card, but I still have my old card installed...

Call them...
When I subscribe for BB plan on tmo, I was able to use push mail but not browser. It turned out that they didn't activate all the things for me, some of 'em were disabled. After I called them, everything is fine.

As a Cingular support rep here is what I would do:

1. Go to settings>options>advanced options>service books. Look for "blackberry internet browsing" as well as IPP for 5 Click. If you are minus those then call cingular to get internet service books sent to your BB.

2. Make sure that in settings>options>advanced options>applications that browser is listed.

Call Cingular.
Make sure you have right BB data plan and right APNs provisioned.
Make sure all services are activated on RIM's network (must have data support to find that out).
Have rep push service books to you.

Save OS reload as last resort since it isn't a red Pearl.

Can you explain this ? How the OS is affected ?

After some small bugs , this was rec. to me by an RIM guy . I do not have a pc . The gent at the store rec. I return as "defective" . I am imagining a new one might have the same load /

Thanks to everyone here , glad to be here the past month. Greatly appreciated .
