Default Blackberry problems... Please help

Please Login to Remove!

I got my Pearl a few days ago, and hooked it up to the computer or the first time today. I used the software and added some pictures I had on my computer, and deleted some of the stuff I didn't need (for example, all of the different languages), and now it wont let me view the pictures I have on my phone. I can view the thumbnails, but it won't let me open the whole picture... It just says: "Unable to display file device memory/home/user/pictures/img00036.jpg" Any ideas on how to fix this? It also wont let me open the 'help' file on the phone, it tells me "error starting 'net_rim_bb_help: module net_rim_ecm ascript not found". Did I totally screw my new phone up?

Download the firmware for the device (guessing it's the .73), install it on your desktop and reconnect your Pearl to it. It'll add the missing packages again. Same thing happened to me after attempting to delete some of the language files off my Pearl.

Thanks... By any chance do you know why there is a small blue circle with what looks like a snowflake in it at the top of the screen? Thanks for your help.

Umm, icon representing your bluetooth connection is on? Is it sort of solid blue oval with an asterisk in the middle...that would look like a snowflake!

You would be best at this point just keeping the Cingular version .73 I think. Look at your BB, Options, About, what version do you have there?

So at the linky, click to your Service provider, select Cingular, go to their BIS website and look for support for your phone and Software downloads.

You'll need desktop manager (which is the one with service pack 1 listed) and the device software (which will be under 8100)

The Service Pack 1 version--that will be your Desktop Manager software for your PC. Your OS download will be separate.

I think he already installed the Desktop Manager from the supplied CD so all he really needs is the firmware package, right?

What was on the CD may very well not be the SP1 version, though, can't hurt.

Click here (hopefully this link works) ...

https://www.cingular.com/support/set...earl&x=20&y=10

Follow the link under Device Setup -> BlackBerry Software Downloads link.

Choose Red 8100c in the pulldown box and the download link should appear.
